Radio carbon dating assumptions

This assumption is backed by numerous scientific studies and is relatively sound.

However, conditions may have been different in the past and could have influenced the rate of decay or formation of radioactive elements.

Evolutionists assume that the rate of cosmic bombardment of the atmosphere has always remained constant and that the rate of decay has remained constant.

Scientists place great faith in this dating method, and yet more than 50% of radiocarbon dates from geological and archaeological samples of northeastern North America have been deemed unacceptable after investigation.

The age of the carbon in the rock is different from that of the carbon in the air and makes carbon dating data for those organisms inaccurate under the assumptions normally used for carbon dating.

This restriction extends to animals that consume seafood in their diet.

Carbon-14 dates usually appear to be reasonably accurate whenever they can be checked against historical records.

For example, when the Dead Sea Scrolls were dated, three methods could be used: 1) Dates written in the documents themselves (like the date at the start of a letter) 2) Paleography, which uses the style of script used to write documents to date them, and 3) Carbon-14.

However, when the organism dies, the amount of c14 declines such that the longer the time since death the lower the levels of c14 in organic tissue.

We thank you in advance for partnering with us in this small but significant way. All methods of radioactive dating rely on three assumptions that may not necessarily be true: It is assumed that the rate of decay has remained constant over time.

Levels of carbon-14 become difficult to measure and compare after about 50,000 years (between 8 and 9 half lives; where 1% of the original carbon-14 would remain undecayed).

The question should be whether or not carbon-14 can be used to date any artifacts at all? There are a few categories of artifacts that can be dated using carbon-14; however, they cannot be more 50,000 years old.

  1. Why do you think that names has such a negative connotation? Everything gets labeled a romantic comedy if it has romance in it or a joke. I couldn't imagine circumstances where I'd have to leave school. I feel like I get to go and read great literature and hear what really intelligent people have to say about it. I'm just sort of in school because it's a safe place to grow up and it's very stimulating, but I don't think that I would do post bachelor work.
